Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Neurosurgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of epidemiology. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Preferred applicant must be ABNS Board Eligible in Neurosurgery and Pediatric Neurosurgery and have completed a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship.
Teaching responsibilities may include education and training of medical students, residents and fellows as well as formal lecture opportunities within the Department of Neurosurgery.
Clinical responsibilities may include brain, spine and peripheral nerve surgery, including, but not limited to, spinal deformity, open spinal dysraphism, congenital spinal disorders, spasticity, hydrocephalus, trauma and skull base pathologies.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing collaborative and independent research programs related to neonatal hydrocephalus (specifically post-hemorrhagic hydrocephalus and congenital hydrocephalus), open spinal dysraphism (specifically fetal myelomeningocele/myeloschisis closure), and long-term outcomes data. In addition, research responsibilities will include the development of a translational research portfolio focused on leveraging multi-omics techniques to uncover the pathobiology of disease, including phenomics and AI based techniques as well as the preparation of grants, reports, and manuscripts and supervision of research staff and post-doctoral fellows. Evidence of scholarship is required in the Clinician-Educator track.
